In Madhya Pradesh's Alirajpur district, Pushpraj Patel, son of a Congress MLA, Sena Mahesh Patel, has been booked for allegedly attempting to run over two police constables with a speeding SUV. The incident occurred on the night between Saturday and Sunday near a local bus stand while the constables were on patrol duty. According to Alirajpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Vyas, a case has been registered against Pushpraj Patel under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

SP Vyas stated that the SUV, allegedly driven by Pushpraj Patel, sped towards the constables, who were standing near their patrol vehicle. The officers sustained injuries while trying to avoid being hit. One report indicates that both officers suffered injuries. A video of the incident, which surfaced on social media, purportedly shows the SUV speeding towards the constables, who managed to jump out of the way in the nick of time. The footage has sparked public outrage and calls for strict action.

This isn't the first time Pushpraj Patel has been embroiled in controversy. In 2023, he was booked for abetment of suicide following the death of a 25-year-old woman, Damini Thakur, from Alirajpur district. Reports suggest that the young woman died by hanging after allegedly being harassed and threatened by Pushpraj Patel.

Notably, another incident from 2019 involved a different Congress MLA's son in Madhya Pradesh facing similar charges. Banku alias Kaptan Singh Kansana, son of Congress MLA Aidal Singh Kansana, along with 13 others, was booked for allegedly kidnapping and attempting to kill two Rajasthan police constables. The constables were on patrol duty near the Chambal river bridge when they were allegedly abducted, assaulted, and robbed.
