Superstar Mahesh Babu is reportedly set to take on a new challenge in his upcoming film, tentatively titled 'SSMB29', directed by SS Rajamouli. According to recent reports, the actor will be performing the majority of his own stunts in the highly anticipated film. This decision aligns with Rajamouli's vision for authenticity and aims to deliver a more thrilling experience for the audience.
SS Rajamouli is known for incorporating grand visuals and authenticity into his shoots. Following in the footsteps of Prabhas in 'Baahubali' and Ram Charan in 'RRR', Mahesh Babu is also reportedly foregoing a body double for some of the film's most dangerous action sequences. This move is intended to bring more realism and impact to the scenes. While some extreme stunts may still require a double, the use of stunt doubles will be limited to ensure Mahesh Babu is at the heart of the adrenaline-filled moments. Mahesh Babu has been working hard to build a muscular physique to meet the demands of the action sequences.
'SSMB29' is being touted as a globe-trotting action-adventure film with mythological elements, drawing inspiration from Lord Hanuman and Hollywood's Indiana Jones. The film will feature rarely seen terrains. While an initial schedule in Kenya was cancelled due to civil unrest, the team is now considering South Africa and Tanzania as alternative locations.
In addition to the action sequences, 'SSMB29' will also showcase Mahesh Babu's dancing skills. He will perform an upbeat solo dance number, similar to his popular song 'Kurchi Madathapetti'. A huge set in the form of a busy marketplace has been erected on the outskirts of Hyderabad to shoot this sequence.
The film boasts a pan-Indian appeal with a stellar cast including Bollywood's Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles. Priyanka Chopra will be marking her return to Indian cinema with this film.
The film is shaping up to be a massive cinematic event, blending elements of mythology, adventure, and realism. While earlier reports suggested the film might be released in two parts, it will be released as a single film. The makers are reportedly aiming for a Summer 2027 release.
The music for the film will be composed by Oscar-winning musician M.M. Keeravani, with cinematography by P.S. Vinod.
