More than 24 hours after the brazen daylight murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside Patna's Paras Hospital, the shooters remain at large, despite police efforts to apprehend them. The audacious attack, which took place on Thursday morning, involved five armed men who casually walked into the hospital, shot Mishra in his room, and fled on motorcycles.
The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about security protocols at the hospital and the overall law and order situation in Bihar. Inspector General of Police Jitendra Rana stated that security protocols at the hospital, including the frisking of visitors, are being scrutinized. He also mentioned the possibility of involvement of security guards in the crime.
Police have identified all five attackers and are conducting raids at several locations. One of the accused, Tauseef Badshah from Phulwari Sharif, has been detained. Tauseef Badshah, 26, is allegedly the one who led the attack. CCTV footage shows him calmly walking out of the ICU after the shooting. His social media presence, featuring photos and videos showcasing a flamboyant lifestyle, has also drawn attention.
Chandan Mishra, 36, was a notorious criminal with 24 criminal cases against him, including over a dozen murders. He was serving a sentence and had been granted medical parole when the attack occurred. Police believe the murder was the result of a gang rivalry, possibly with the "Sheru gang". Mishra and Sheru were once close associates but had a falling out while in jail.
The incident is the latest in a series of high-profile crimes in Patna, including the recent murder of a businessman and a former BJP leader. This has led to increased scrutiny of the state's law and order situation. The police are under pressure to apprehend the remaining suspects and restore public confidence. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities exploring all possible angles, including gang rivalry and potential security lapses.
