In a disturbing incident in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, an elderly woman died after allegedly being abandoned by her relatives on a roadside. The incident occurred late Thursday night in the Kishundaspur locality, within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali Ayodhya police station in Ramnagari.

The woman was discovered unattended on Thursday morning. Local residents found her lying near the roadside and alerted the authorities. Police officers responded to the call and took the woman to Ayodhya Medical College for treatment. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her condition later that evening.

The abandonment was captured on CCTV. The footage shows an e-rickshaw arriving at the scene, and three individuals – two women and a man – leaving the elderly woman by the roadside before leaving. The video also shows one of the women briefly turning back to look at the elderly woman. The individuals then quickly fled the scene. According to officials, the incident occurred around 1 AM near Darshan Nagar Medical College. They are also seen putting a blanket on her while leaving her on the road.

Police are currently investigating the incident and working to identify the deceased woman and the individuals involved. Authorities are scanning the CCTV footage to identify the vehicle and those who abandoned her.

Ayodhya Additional Superintendent of Police (City) C P Tripathi stated that they received a Dial 112 emergency call at approximately 9:30 am on Thursday, reporting an unconscious elderly woman lying by the roadside. A police team immediately responded and transported her to the medical college. Tripathi confirmed that the police have obtained CCTV footage showing a man and two women abandoning the woman. He added that efforts are underway to trace them and determine the identity of the deceased. He assured that strict action would be taken against the culprits once identification is confirmed and a postmortem is completed.

Initial investigations suggest that the woman was transported in an e-rickshaw by her relatives, who then left her by the roadside. The woman was reportedly suffering from severe neck injuries and may have been suffering from cancer.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with residents and social organizations demanding strict punishment for the inhumane act.
