Suniel Shetty recently shared insights into his marriage with Mana Shetty, revealing that their union faced initial opposition from his parents. The actor, known for his roles in action and comedy films, married Mana in 1991, a year before his Bollywood debut.

Shetty disclosed that his parents were against the marriage because Mana did not belong to their community. He emphasized Mana's unwavering support, stating that she was always clear about staying with him regardless of his career success. This commitment was a major factor in their decision to marry when he signed his first film. Despite discouragement from others who believed marriage would affect his fan following, Shetty was resolute in his decision.

In an interview, Suniel Shetty mentioned that he was perceived as a "gunda" (thug) due to his long hair, biker image, and the company of female friends. He recounted meeting Mana at unconventional hours, such as early Christmas and New Year mornings, without her complaint. He also stated that Mana's parents were supportive of their relationship, and had a good rapport with him. Eventually, Suniel convinced his parents that he wanted to marry Mana and emphasized that he desired a partner who would be treated as a daughter rather than a daughter-in-law.

Suniel and Mana dated for nine years before tying the knot on December 25, 1991. They have two children: Athiya Shetty, who is married to Indian cricketer KL Rahul, and Ahan Shetty, who debuted in the film "Tadap".

Shetty highlighted that Mana would have left him only if he had displayed behavioral or commitment issues. He acknowledged her self-respect, which she possessed then and continues to have.

Mana Shetty is a businesswoman, real estate mogul, designer, and social activist. She runs an NGO for underprivileged children.
