A devastating explosion at an asphalt plant near Vadodara, Gujarat, on Sunday evening has claimed the lives of three people. The incident occurred in Mokshi village, located in the Savli taluka of the Vadodara district.
According to police reports, the explosion happened while workers were heating a tanker truck to remove asphalt. The process involved heating the tanker to transfer the stuck asphalt into barrels. During this heating process, the gas pressure inside the tanker increased rapidly, leading to a catastrophic explosion.
The blast killed three individuals who were in close proximity to the tanker. Authorities have identified the deceased as Armaan Ziaullah, 26, a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, Ashok Gurjar, 21, from Alwar in Rajasthan, and Shakib Akhtar Khan, 33, a resident of Vadodara. Among the victims were the driver and cleaner of the tanker, as well as a local labourer.
Following the incident, the bodies of the deceased were transported to a hospital in Vadodara for post-mortem examination.
Bhadarwa police station officials are investigating the incident. Preliminary findings suggest the explosion was a result of increased gas pressure within the tanker during the heating process.
