The annual Puri Rath Yatra, one of the oldest and most significant Hindu festivals, is set to commence on June 27, 2025. This grand event, also known as the Chariot Festival or Shree Gundicha Yatra, celebrates Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and his sister Devi Subhadra, as they journey from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple. Special Trains and Transportation
To manage the massive influx of pilgrims, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced that 365 special trains will operate to and from Puri, in addition to the regular train services. These special trains will connect Puri to various parts of Odisha and neighboring states, including:
Special emphasis will be placed on major festival days, including Gundicha Yatra, Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra, and Suna Besha, with dedicated services from remote and interior districts to ensure maximum accessibility for devotees. Health and Safety Measures
The Odisha government is setting up 69 temporary health centers, deploying 64 ambulances, and arranging 265 exclusive hospital beds to tackle any emergency. As many as 378 additional doctors and paramedical staff will be on duty during the Yatra, while specialist doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar will also provide medical support. The administration will ensure the availability of clean drinking water and healthy food at all locations.

The administration has prioritized uninterrupted power supply, clean drinking water, and sanitation. High-capacity pumps will be deployed at waterlogging-prone areas to manage monsoon challenges.
