A shocking incident in Tumkur, Karnataka, has come to light where a dismembered body was discovered scattered across a 3-kilometer stretch. The gruesome discovery began with reports of a dog carrying a human hand in its mouth. This led to the discovery of body parts strewn along the road near Muthyalamma Temple in Koratagere taluk.
The body parts were found in plastic bags, seemingly discarded like garbage. According to police reports, the perpetrator(s) may have scattered the remains across the jurisdictions of three different police stations – Koratagere, Kolala and Gauribidanur – to hinder the investigation. Hands, legs, and internal organs were found separately.
Local residents were alarmed by the sight of the body parts. The discovery was made between the Garuda River and Lingapura. It has been reported that a hand was discovered near Muthyalamma Temple after locals saw dogs dragging it from a cover. Other parts, including intestines and pieces of flesh, were found in the area between Kolala and Lingapura. The gender of the deceased was initially unknown, but police have confirmed the body parts belong to a woman based on the bangles and jewelry found at the scene. However, the head and torso are yet to be recovered.
Tumkur Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok K.V. visited the scene to assess the situation. The recovered body parts have been sent to the Tumkur District Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered at the Koratagere Police Station, and investigations are underway to identify the victim and the perpetrators. Police are gathering information from locals and analyzing CCTV footage from the area.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear among the residents of Chimuganahalli, Lingapura, and surrounding villages. Villagers have demanded the swift arrest of those responsible for the heinous crime. Police suspect the murder was committed elsewhere, and the body was dismembered and disposed of in the area.
In a similar case, in April 2025, a 35-year-old businessman was abducted from a restaurant in Nelamangala, Bengaluru Rural district, and found murdered near Tumkur. The victim had been receiving threats related to his relationship with a woman.
