Prime Minister Narendra Modi is strongly advocating for the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) mission, emphasizing "Zero Defect, Zero Effect" in manufacturing. This initiative aims to elevate India's economic status and global competitiveness while minimizing environmental impact.
Speaking at the 'Next-Gen Mobility for a Next-Gen City' program in Bengaluru, PM Modi expressed his confidence in the youth to spearhead the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. He underscored the importance of self-reliance in technology and urged a focus on 'Make in India' with a commitment to zero defects and minimal environmental impact.
The "Zero Defect, Zero Effect" (ZED) scheme is a key component of this mission. It encourages manufacturing units, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to produce defect-free products with minimal environmental impact. The scheme aims to enhance the international competitiveness of MSMEs while adhering to international standards of quality and sustainability. The "Zero Defect" aspect ensures customer satisfaction through defect-free products, while "Zero Effect" emphasizes manufacturing processes with near-zero negative environmental consequences.
The ZED scheme, launched under the 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives, aims to make Indian products globally recognized for their quality and sustainability. By meeting both national and international market demands through world-class practices, Indian MSMEs can achieve greater credibility and access to export markets. MSMEs that meet the quality and environment benchmarks receive ZED certification, enhancing their marketability nationally and internationally.
PM Modi has also highlighted India's economic progress and its ambition to become the world's third-largest economy. He noted the significant increase in operational national waterways, from 3 in 2014 to 30. He stated that digital solutions have reached every village, with over 50% of the world's real-time transactions happening through UPI in India. Technology is bridging the gap between the government and citizens, and investments are being made in technologies like AI-powered threat detection.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the growth in the defense sector, noting that India is now exporting defense items worth over 24 thousand crores. He added that no power in the world can stop India from becoming a major global power.
The success of Operation Sindoor, which showcased India's indigenous defense arsenal, is rooted in the 'Make in India' initiative.
While inaugurating the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, PM Modi also highlighted the infrastructure development in the country. The metro project aims to provide faster, smoother, and more comfortable travel for commuters while promoting sustainable urban development.
