The Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has recently booked the managing director of Hyderabad-based Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd for a multi-crore investment app scam. The case revolves around the "Falcon Invoice Discounting app," which allegedly defrauded numerous investors, including a Major General from the Indian Army.
Several complaints have been filed against the company, with allegations that it lured investors with false promises of high returns through a Ponzi-like scheme. Major General Rajat Jagani is among the primary complainants, claiming a loss of over Rs 2.21 crore. Another victim from Jammu, Pardeep Kumar Gupta, reported a loss of Rs 62 lakh.
Investigations suggest that Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd, and its director Amardeep Kumar, fabricated vendor profiles on social media to attract investors. The company purportedly engaged in a bogus invoice discounting racket, promising attractive returns by financing business invoices. However, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) discovered that there was no legitimate invoice discounting business. Instead, Amardeep Kumar allegedly promoted the Falcon app through various online platforms to solicit public investments. The ED has called Amardeep Kumar the "mastermind" behind the operation.
The total amount cheated is estimated to be around ₹792 crore. The ED's investigation revealed that investor money was diverted into personal luxuries and corporate ventures, including equity investments, unsecured loans, casino spending, and the purchase of a private jet. In March 2025, the ED seized a 'Hawker 800A' aircraft allegedly bought by Amardeep Kumar using the proceeds of the crime.
The ED's money laundering investigation stems from three FIRs registered by the Economic Offences Wing, Cyberabad Police. These cases accuse Kumar and his company of defrauding investors with promises of lucrative returns that never materialized.
In June 2025, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested two more individuals in connection with the Falcon investment fraud case, bringing the total number of arrests to nine. One of the arrested, Sandeep Kumar, worked as the operations head of Capital Protection Force Pvt Ltd and is the younger brother of Amardeep Kumar. The second accused, Ravi Kumar, is Amardeep Kumar's cousin. Police have seized luxury cars and property documents from the accused.
Sandeep Kumar had allegedly transferred over Rs 8.45 crore to personal accounts. Following the filing of the case in February 2025, Sandeep Kumar fled to Dubai but later re-entered India illegally via Nepal. He initially sought refuge in Bihar before moving to Odisha and finally arriving at his cousin Ravi's residence in Hyderabad.
The ED has provisionally attached twelve immovable properties worth ₹18.14 crore in connection with the ₹792 crore fraud. These properties are held in the name of Amardeep Kumar, his family members, and his two firms, Rhett Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. and Rhett Herbal Pvt. Ltd. The investigation is ongoing.
