On August 10, 2025, a man was intercepted by city police in Bengaluru, India, after he attempted to jump a barricade. The incident occurred as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy was passing through South End Circle in Jayanagar.
According to police reports, the man jumped over the park's grill, landing on the footpath, and then moved towards the barricade. Law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him and escorted him away from the area. The incident took place as Modi was en route from KRS railway station, where he had flagged off three Vande Bharat trains, to Ragi Gudda Metro station for the inauguration of the Yellow Line.
At the time of the incident, large crowds had gathered in the park at the circle, which is enclosed by a grilled compound, and along the barricaded footpath. Shortly after the initial incident, a few other individuals also began running along the footpath, creating further commotion. In the ensuing chaos, an elderly woman in the crowd was pushed, but another police team promptly came to her aid and ensured her safety.
Approximately 200 police officers were stationed at the circle as part of the extensive security arrangements for Prime Minister Modi's visit. Despite the incident, a senior police officer stated that there was no security breach. The officer emphasized that the security arrangements were well-managed and that the incident at South End Circle did not represent a lapse in security.
Similar incidents have occurred in the past, including one in May 2020, when a man jumped a barricade outside the White House in Washington, D.C.. In that instance, the individual was quickly detained by the U.S. Secret Service. Another incident involved a man jumping a barricade at Yellowstone National Park in 2018 to soak his feet in a hot spring.
