The potential casting of Ranveer Singh as Shaktimaan in the upcoming film adaptation has been a hot topic of discussion, with Mukesh Khanna, the original Shaktimaan, addressing the rumors and sharing details of his meeting with the Bollywood star. Khanna clarified that while Ranveer Singh showed considerable interest and enthusiasm for the role, spending around three hours discussing it with him, no final decision has been made.

Reports surfaced in November of last year that Ranveer Singh had waited three hours to meet Mukesh Khanna, seeking his blessing to play the iconic superhero. Khanna confirmed the meeting and acknowledged Ranveer's strong interest in the role. During an appearance on Shardul Pandit's podcast, Khanna elaborated on the speculation surrounding the Shaktimaan film's development. He explained that the project had been delayed due to COVID-19 and subsequent controversies. Khanna added that while Ranveer was eager to play Shaktimaan, he never officially confirmed Ranveer for the part.

Khanna praised Ranveer's performance and energy, stating that he was very passionate about the role. However, Khanna emphasized that he envisions Shaktimaan as Shaktimaan, a character he has embodied for 30 years. He expressed uncertainty about whether the Shaktimaan film would even materialize. Khanna also clarified that he never forced Ranveer to wait, and that Ranveer stayed because he wanted to. He reiterated that casting decisions ultimately rest with the producer, not the actor.

Khanna has also expressed that it is not about being a big actor but about having the right presence and aura to play Shaktimaan. He questioned whether a big name is necessary for the role, emphasizing the importance of the actor's face and essence. He referenced Akshay Kumar's portrayal of Prithviraj Chauhan, suggesting that merely wearing a wig and mustache did not make him convincing in the role.

Khanna has also addressed misconceptions that he was positioning himself to be the next Shaktimaan, clarifying that he considers himself the original and that he aims to create the legacy of Shaktimaan. He further stated that he is not trying to prove that he is better than Ranveer Singh or anyone else who might take on the mantle of Shaktimaan.

While some reports suggested that Ranveer Singh was "roped in" to play Shaktimaan, Khanna has stated that he is not in favor of Ranveer Singh playing the superhero, as the actor has a certain image. He has emphasized that an actor with a particular image cannot necessarily become Shaktimaan. Khanna has also mentioned a conflict with Sony, further complicating the casting process. He stated that Ranveer Singh looks playful, unlike someone who would trick others. He believes the innocence and honesty required to play the superhero is missing among actors today.
