Faissal Khan, brother of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, has officially severed ties with his family, citing years of "unfortunate past events". This decision follows a recent interview where Faissal made startling claims against his brother and family, alleging mistreatment and confinement.
In a statement released to Bollywood Bubble, Faissal declared that he has cut all familial and estate ties with his family members. He stated that, effective immediately, he is no longer part of the family of his late father, Tahir Husain, or his mother, Zeenat Tahir Husain, nor any other family member listed in the schedule. He also clarified that he would not be entitled to any rights arising from his parents' estates and would not be liable for any obligations linked to them.
Furthermore, Faissal stated that he will no longer reside in Aamir Khan's residence and will not claim any monthly allowance or maintenance from his brother. He explained that this decision was made after careful consideration and in light of past events.
Faissal has accused his family of mistreating him over the years. He claimed that from 2005 to 2007, he was subjected to unwanted forced medication. He also alleged that he was confined to his home against his wishes by some family members for their personal interests from 2005 to 2006. In October 2007, he said he left home when his family members were forcing him to give up his signatory rights.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Faissal claimed his family had said he had schizophrenia and was "a mad person" who could harm society. He alleged that Aamir had locked him up for over a year at his home in Mumbai, gave him medicines, and posted bodyguards outside his room.
Aamir Khan and his family responded to Faissal's allegations with an official statement expressing their distress over his "hurtful" remarks and calling them misleading. The family defended their actions as decisions made out of care and concern for Faissal's well-being, emphasizing that all decisions were made collectively with medical guidance.
Faissal has also accused his family of defaming him by publishing false statements in print and social media in August 2025, claiming that these statements have jeopardized his career and created havoc in his personal and professional life since 2005. He urged the public and the media to respect his privacy and stated that he intends to file a writ petition in court next month to pursue further legal steps.
The relationship between Aamir and Faissal has been strained for years. In the past, Faissal was involved in a legal dispute with the family after being asked to relinquish his signatory rights. In 2008, the court ruled in his favor, rejecting the allegations made by his family members. He had spent 20 days at JJ Hospital for a mental health evaluation, after which doctors confirmed he was mentally fit.
Despite the turmoil, Faissal has expressed a lack of grudges against his family. He mentioned that he is close to Aamir's first wife, Reena Dutta, and respects her a lot. He also acknowledged that Aamir helped him get a job as a script doctor when he wanted to return to work.
