In a shocking turn of events in Rajasthan's Alwar district, an eight-year-old boy has become the key witness in his father's murder case, implicating his mother and her alleged lover. The victim, Hansraj, was reportedly murdered on August 15, and his body was discovered inside a blue plastic drum on the first floor of a rented house in Kishangarh, Khairthal-Tijara district. The gruesome discovery was made after the landlady noticed a foul smell emanating from the drum.
The investigation took a chilling turn when Hansraj's eldest son, Harshal, recounted the events leading up to his father's death. According to Harshal, the night of the murder involved his father, mother Sunita, and Jitendra Sharma, who is allegedly Sunita's lover and the landlord's son, consuming alcohol together. Harshal told NDTV that while his mother only had a couple of drinks, both his father and Jitendra Sharma drank heavily. A fight erupted when Hansraj began physically abusing Sunita. Harshal stated that Jitendra intervened, and his mother later instructed him and the other children to go to sleep.
Harshal further revealed that he woke up to find his father motionless on the bed. The following morning, he witnessed his mother and Jitendra emptying a water-filled drum, stuffing his father's body inside, sprinkling salt, and then moving the drum to the rooftop. When he questioned their actions, he was simply told that "Papa has died". Police indicated that Sunita and Jitendra put salt in the drum to accelerate the decomposition of the body.
The boy's testimony has been crucial in the investigation, providing a detailed account of the crime. He recounted to NDTV that Jitendra Sharma "used to help" them, which led to frequent arguments between his parents. He said that Jitendra had helped him get admitted to school, which angered his father and led to him beating his mother. "[M]y father got angry that uncle had got my admission done and he started beating my mother. Then, uncle came to save my mother," the boy told NDTV.
Adding another layer to the disturbing narrative, Harshal also alleged that his father was abusive towards his mother and himself. He claimed that his father frequently beat his mother, burned her with cigarettes, and even attempted to cut his throat with a blade on August 15.
Following the discovery of the body and Harshal's statement, police arrested Sunita and Jitendra Sharma. The family, along with Sharma, was apprehended at a brick kiln approximately 50 km away from the scene of the crime. Police sources revealed that Sunita and Sharma had been in a relationship for four months, which Hansraj had discovered, leading to frequent conflicts with Sunita.
The investigation is ongoing, and the children are expected to be handed over to their paternal grandparents. This case bears a chilling resemblance to a similar murder in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman and her lover allegedly killed her husband and hid his body parts in a drum. In that case, the victim's daughter repeatedly said, "Papa drum mein hain," which translates to "Papa is in the drum".
