The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is poised to be a strong contender in the budget 5G smartphone market in India. With a launch expected around August 29, 2025, this device aims to offer a blend of essential features and 5G connectivity at an attractive price point.

Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is tipped to launch in India at a starting price of ₹18,999, making it one of Samsung's most competitively priced 5G smartphones in the Indian market. It is expected to be available in three variants: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB models could be priced at ₹20,499 and ₹23,499, respectively.

Pre-registration has already started on Samsung India's official website. The Galaxy A17 5G was launched in Europe on August 6 with a price of EUR 239 (roughly Rs. 24,393) for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration.

Design and Display

The Galaxy A17 5G features a sleek and slim design, measuring just 7.5mm in thickness and weighing around 192g. It sports a glass fiber back and a plastic frame. The phone is expected to come in Black, Gray, and Blue color options. The device features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800 nits, ensuring smooth visuals and vibrant colors. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. It is also expected to have an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Galaxy A17 5G is powered by the Exynos 1330 chipset. This octa-core processor is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card. The device runs on Android 15-based One UI 7. Samsung promises up to 6 major Android upgrades and 6 years of security updates.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G features a triple-camera setup:

  • Main Camera: 50MP with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), f/1.8 aperture
  • Ultrawide Camera: 5MP, f/2.2 aperture
  • Macro Camera: 2MP, f/2.4 aperture

The rear camera is expected to support recording 1080p videos at 30fps. It also supports Panorama and HDR modes. The front camera is 13MP with an f/2.0 aperture. It also supports recording 1080p videos at 30fps.

Battery and Connectivity

The Galaxy A17 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. It supports 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and has a USB Type-C port.

Other Features

The smartphone features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also includes a hybrid microSD card slot. A 3.5mm headphone jack and a punch-hole display are also expected. The phone comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable. In India, the Galaxy A17 5G will include a charger in the box.
