A man in Uttar Pradesh has been fined ₹30,500 for performing a dangerous stunt on a moving Scorpio SUV. The incident, which took place on a highway in the Hapur district, involved the man climbing onto the bonnet and roof of the moving vehicle.

The video of the stunt went viral on social media, drawing the attention of the Hapur police. The footage shows the man driving the Scorpio with both passenger-side doors open. He then exits the vehicle while it is still in motion and proceeds to climb onto the bonnet and then the roof. The vehicle continues to move at a high speed throughout the stunt. This reckless behavior prompted immediate action from the authorities, who issued a fine under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Hapur police took notice of the video and imposed a fine of ₹28,500. However, according to NDTV, the total fine issued by the police amounted to ₹30,500. The video was reportedly recorded in the Baghpat (Babu Garh) police station area along NH9. Police are taking the incident seriously, as such stunts endanger not only the life of the performer but also the safety of other road users.

This is not an isolated incident in Uttar Pradesh. In a similar case from August 2023, two men in Bareilly were fined ₹52,000 each for performing stunts on moving cars. The UP Police traced the car's number plate from the video shared on social media and issued the fines. In June 2025, a man was arrested in Lucknow for performing a dangerous stunt on a moving Scorpio near the Chief Minister's residence. The SUV in that incident had an Assembly pass, raising security concerns.

In March 2021, another man in Uttar Pradesh shared a video of himself doing push-ups on a moving Scorpio. The UP Police responded with a challan and a humorous tweet, advising, "Some Pushups will only bring you down in the eyes of Law! Stay Strong, Stay Safe!". The police also shared a video of the man apologizing for his actions.

Such stunts are often performed to gain popularity on social media, but they can have serious consequences. Authorities have repeatedly warned against such dangerous acts, emphasizing that they are punishable offenses. The UP Police have been actively using social media to track down and penalize offenders, sending a message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
