Veteran actress Farida Jalal has extended her heartfelt blessings to Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, for his directorial debut with the upcoming Netflix series, The Bads of Bollywood. The show's preview was unveiled at a grand launch event in Mumbai last week, drawing considerable attention and generating positive buzz within the industry.
At the trailer launch of Love In Vietnam on Monday, August 25, 2025, Farida Jalal, who famously played Kajol's mother in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), was asked about Aryan and his directorial venture. With a warm smile, she conveyed her blessings: "Bahot sari duaein unke liye. Haan, set pe bhi the, bahot chhote se the, nanhe-munne se. I feel very proud of the fact ke woh khud ek director bane hain aaj. Allah kaamyaab kare, meri dua hai". This translates to: "Many blessings for him. Yes, he had come on the sets too, he was very little, just a small child. I feel very proud that he has become a director today. May Allah grant him success, that's my prayer".
Jalal also fondly recalled Aryan's visits to the sets of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as a young child. While some reports playfully noted that Aryan might not have been on the DDLJ sets since he was born after the film's release in 1995, it's likely Jalal remembers him from her other collaborations with Shah Rukh Khan in films like Duplicate, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
The veteran actress expressed immense pride in Aryan's journey to becoming a director and offered her prayers for his success.
The Bads of Bollywood is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2025. The series boasts a star-studded cast including Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Sahher Bambba, Mona Singh, Raghav Juyal, Manoj Pahwa, Manish Chaudhari, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Gautami Kapoor, and Rajat Bedi. Adding to the excitement, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, and Salman Khan will make cameo appearances.
Aryan Khan has described his vision for The Bads of Bollywood as creating "a world that feels alive, a mix of glitz and grit, where ambition shines, egos clash, and nothing is ever as it seems". He further stated that Netflix shared his creative vision, allowing him to tell the story in a raw, stylized manner, promising a unique experience for the audience.
During the show's launch event, Aryan admitted to feeling nervous addressing the media for the first time but shared that he had prepared thoroughly for the big day. Shah Rukh Khan, in his signature witty style, played the role of a proud father as he introduced the cast.
In addition to Farida Jalal, Sunny Deol also extended his support for Aryan's project on social media. Sunny revealed that his brother, Bobby Deol, who plays a key role in the series, was impressed by Aryan's working style. Sunny added that Shah Rukh Khan must be feeling "extremely proud as a father" seeing Aryan embark on this new journey.
