The Tamil coming-of-age drama Bad Girl, co-produced by Vetrimaaran and presented by Anurag Kashyap, is set to release in Hindi. The film, directed by debutante Varsha Bharath, already had a theatrical release in Tamil on September 5, 2025.
Bad Girl has garnered critical acclaim, including winning the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The Hindi version aims to broaden the film's reach, introducing the story to a new audience.
The film revolves around Ramya, a teenage girl navigating love and lust in Chennai. Her journey through high school and college as she dreams of finding the perfect guy is obstructed by societal norms, strict parents, unrequited love, and her own chaotic mind. Anjali Sivaraman leads the cast as Ramya. The cast also includes Shanthipriya, Hridhu Haroon, TeeJay Arunasalam, and Saranya Ravichandran.
Amit Trivedi composed the music for Bad Girl. The film also has Preetha Jayaraman, Jagadeesh Ravi, and Prince Anderson as cinematographers, Radha Sridhar as the editor, and V Shanmugaraja as the production designer. Notably, the film also had an intimacy coordinator, Jayalakshmi Sundaresan, on its crew.
The makers of Bad Girl are planning a launch event in Mumbai for the Hindi release. Anuparna Roy, who won the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival for Songs Of Forgotten Trees, will attend the launch event in Mumbai. Roy was reportedly very impressed by the film. The event is expected to be a "glorious union of some of the sharpest, bravest female voices of the industry".
