In Delhi's Rohini area, a domestic dispute tragically escalated into a double murder on Saturday. Yogesh Sehgal was arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Priya Sehgal (34), and his mother-in-law, Kusum Sinha (63). The incident occurred in their home in Sector-17, KN Katju Marg.

The sequence of events began on August 28 during the birthday celebration of the couple's son, Chirag. A quarrel arose between Priya and Yogesh regarding the gifts exchanged between their respective families. Priya reportedly made a remark about Yogesh's family not bringing gifts. Kusum had stayed at Priya's house to mediate the situation.

On August 30, Priya's brother, Megh Sinha (30), tried contacting his mother, Kusum, but received no response. Growing suspicious, he went to his sister's house. He found the flat locked from the outside with blood stains near the door. Megh alerted neighbors and other relatives, and they broke open the lock. Inside, they discovered the bodies of his mother and sister in a pool of blood.

Megh Sinha reported the incident to the KNK Marg Police Station at 3:50 PM. He alleged that Yogesh, who was unemployed, had murdered his wife and mother-in-law and fled with his children. Police later arrested Yogesh in Rohini. Blood-stained clothes and a pair of scissors, believed to be the murder weapon, were recovered from the scene. Police said that Yogesh had attempted to clean the scene.

According to investigators, frequent domestic disputes had strained the couple's relationship in recent months. The remark made during their son's birthday celebration appeared to be the triggering factor for the violent outburst. A senior police officer told PTI that Kusum had gone to Priya's house a day before the incident and told them she would return the next day. When they called her, she said there was a fight and she would help sort it out.

Following the discovery of the bodies, teams from the Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were called to the scene. Further investigation is underway.
