A tragic incident occurred on the Bhubaneswar-Tirupati Superfast Express, where the body of a man was discovered in a train toilet at Bhubaneswar railway station. The discovery was made by cleaning staff during a routine check before the train's scheduled departure on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Nasim, approximately 41 years old. His identity was confirmed through a PAN card found at the scene. According to Inspector Ashok Kumar Gochhayat, the body was found hanging from the train window with a belt. The train had arrived at Bhubaneswar from Tirupati late on Friday night. The body was discovered at around 12:30 pm.
Authorities, including the Government Railway Police (GRP) and a scientific team, are currently investigating the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the possibility of suicide. Inspector Gochhayat stated that GRP officials are examining CCTV footage from Bhubaneswar railway station and missing person complaints from nearby areas.
This is the second such incident reported from the Bhubaneswar railway station in recent weeks. On August 16, 2025, the body of a young man from Uttar Pradesh was found in a toilet of the Bhubaneswar–Delhi Duronto Express while the train was at the washing line.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise circumstances surrounding Mohammed Nasim's death. The investigation aims to confirm the initial findings and complete all necessary forensic procedures.
