Shilpa Shetty's popular Mumbai restaurant, Bastian Bandra, is closing its doors, with its last day of operation slated for this Thursday. The closure comes amidst a cheating case where Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, are accused of defrauding a businessman of ₹60.4 crore.

Bastian Bandra, co-owned by Shetty and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, first opened in 2016 and was later relocated and reopened in Bandra in 2023. The restaurant quickly became a popular destination in Mumbai, known for its artistic decor, sophisticated ambiance, and seafood-focused menu.

Shetty shared the news of the closure on her Instagram, stating, "This Thursday marks the end of an era as we bid farewell to one of Mumbai's most iconic destinations - BASTIAN BANDRA… A venue that gave us countless memories, unforgettable nights, and moments that shaped the city's nightlife now takes its final bow". She also mentioned that a special evening would be held for close patrons to celebrate Bastian's legacy.

In a separate statement, the restaurant said, "For nine incredible years, our patrons have turned Bastian Bandra into far more than a restaurant. They have made it a home filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As we take a short pause for renovations, we are deeply grateful for every moment we have shared with you. This is not goodbye - it is a fresh new beginning. We will be announcing something special very soon".

While Bastian Bandra is closing, the restaurant's other location, Bastian At The Top in Dadar West, will continue operations. Shetty also noted that their Thursday night ritual, Arcane Affair, will move to Bastian At The Top.

The closure coincides with a fraud case filed against Shetty and Kundra by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari. Kothari alleges that the couple defrauded him of over ₹60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal linked to their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. He claims the money, given between 2015 and 2023 for business expansion, was instead used for personal expenses. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is now investigating the case.

In related news, Shilpa Shetty's restaurant, Bastian, faced scrutiny in October 2024 after a luxury BMW was stolen from its parking lot. The incident raised concerns about security measures at the high-profile restaurant. The car's owner, Ruhan Khan, filed a police report, and authorities are investigating the theft. CCTV footage showed two individuals using hacking techniques to steal the car.
