Raveena Tandon recently visited and performed aarti at India's oldest Ganpati pandal, the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati, in Pune. The actress shared a video of her experience on Instagram, offering a glimpse into the beautifully restored venue, which has been transformed into a museum.
In the video, Tandon is seen singing a bhajan and playing the manjira, a traditional musical instrument. She also claps with her eyes closed as she stands near the altar, deeply immersed in prayer. The actress chants mantras and offers prayers to Lord Ganesha.
Tandon also brought along her "very special guest," her pet dog, to the pandal. After applying a tika to her own forehead, she gently rubbed some on her dog as well.
For the occasion, Raveena Tandon wore a beige shirt paired with a vibrant, colorful skirt and tied her hair in a bun.
In her Instagram post, Tandon expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to visit the historic pandal. She highlighted that the pandal was started by Shrimant Bhausahab Rangari, recognizing his significant contribution. She also noted that the location served as a meeting place for freedom fighters and was beautifully restored by Shri Punit Balan, whom she thanked for the invitation.
The Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal was established in 1892 by Bhausahab Rangari at his home and is recognized as the first public Ganesh Mandal in India. It shares the distinction of being the oldest Ganpati pandal with the one established at Keshavji Naik Chawl in Mumbai by Bal Gangadhar Tilak in the same year. Today, the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal continues to be a major draw for devotees.
