Teja Sajja’s upcoming pan-Indian film, "Mirai," has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate. This certification signifies that the film is suitable for all age groups, with a caution for children under 12, who may require parental guidance. The film is slated for a worldwide release on September 12, 2025.
"Mirai" is directed by Karthik Gattamneni, who also serves as the cinematographer and screenplay writer. Manibabu Karanam has contributed to the writing and dialogues. The film is produced by People Media Factory, known for backing blockbusters such as "Karthikeya 2" and "Jaat".
The film stars Teja Sajja in the lead role, alongside Manchu Manoj in a significant role as the antagonist. The cast also includes Ritika Nayak, Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu, Shriya Saran, Rajendranath Zutshi, and Pawan Chopra in supporting roles. Gowra Hari, who previously collaborated with Teja Sajja on "Hanu-Man," is the music director for "Mirai".
Teja Sajja describes "Mirai" as a story about a young man from Charminar in Hyderabad who is unaware of his ancient legacy. He belongs to the Yodha's universe, established centuries ago by Emperor Ashoka. The film follows his journey of discovering his dharma and the extent he will go to prevent a catastrophe. The narrative involves nine scriptures born out of Ashoka's regret after the Kalinga war, possessing the power to transform a mortal into a god, and protected by nine Yodhas who choose their successors. The film revolves around the battle between good and evil, with Teja Sajja's character tasked with guarding nine holy manuscripts and confronting the dark rival, Black Sword, played by Manchu Manoj.
"Mirai" is touted as an action-adventure fantasy with a blend of mythology and modern cinema. The film is expected to have a record number of VFX shots. The team has filmed in various locations, including Sri Lanka for an action sequence on a train and a popular tourist destination, as well as the Himalayas.
The film's runtime is 169 minutes (2 hours 49 minutes). The digital rights for "Mirai" have been acquired by JioHotstar. The film is set to release in eight languages in both 2D and 3D formats. Karan Johar is presenting the film for the North India territory.
Teja Sajja has been actively promoting the film. He clarified that reports of an AI-generated Mahesh Babu as Lord Ram are false, although the concept of Lord Ram is crucial to the story.
"Mirai" is expected to have a strong opening and is predicted to be one of the biggest Tollywood releases of 2025. The film will face competition from "Kishkindhapuri" at the box office.
