In the wake of reported Israeli strikes in Doha, Qatar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has engaged in discussions with the Emir of Qatar, expressing strong condemnation for the "violation of sovereignty". The strikes, which have heightened tensions in the Gulf region, have drawn international concern and calls for de-escalation.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement expressing India's deep concern regarding the Israeli strikes in Doha and their potential impact on regional security. The MEA emphasized the importance of restraint and diplomacy, urging all parties to prioritize peaceful resolution to prevent further escalation.

Reports indicate that the Israeli strikes targeted buildings housing Hamas' political wing in Doha's diplomatic quarter. While Hamas stated that its leaders survived the attack, five lower-ranked members were reportedly killed. Qatar also reported the death of a member of its Internal Security Force and injuries to others. Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has asserted Qatar's right to respond to the attacks, which he called a "pivotal moment" for the region. He affirmed Qatar's commitment to continue mediating for a ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza, despite the attack. The Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in a phone call with US President Donald Trump, stated that Qatar would take all necessary measures to protect its security and preserve its sovereignty.

The situation is further complicated by conflicting reports regarding advance warning of the strikes. Qatar has denied receiving a warning from the U.S. prior to the attack, stating that notification came after the strikes had already commenced. Qatari foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said that the first call from an American official came ten minutes after the attack.

India maintains diplomatic relations with both Israel and Qatar and has consistently advocated for peaceful resolution of disputes in the region. India's strategic interest in preserving peace in West Asia is underscored by the region's significant Indian diaspora and economic ties.

The international community has largely condemned the strikes. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stressed that "all parties must work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire, not destroying it". Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also condemned the attack, describing it as a "blatant violation of international law".

The situation remains fluid, and India is expected to closely monitor developments and issue further advisories as needed.
