Kumaar, who played the antagonist Satbir in NH10 opposite Anushka Sharma, and the supportive husband Onler in Mary Kom opposite Priyanka Chopra, found himself at the center of a debate between the two actresses.

According to Darshan Kumaar, the incident occurred when Anushka and Priyanka met during the shoot of Dil Dhadakne Do. Priyanka shared her positive impressions of Kumaar, describing him as "sweet, hardworking, and a good actor". However, Anushka had a different perspective, reportedly exclaiming, "Kahan? (Where).
