Shreyas Talpade recently revealed that he was "shocked" to learn he had unknowingly turned down the role of Jagdish Tyagi in the film Jolly LLB, which was eventually played by Arshad Warsi. In a recent interview, the actor shared how he had met with director Subhash Kapoor who narrated a story to him. However, due to prior commitments, things didn't progress.
Talpade, who has had a successful career across various entertainment mediums, including theatre, television, Marathi cinema and Bollywood, has no regrets about the choices he has made. He recalls watching Jolly LLB after its release in 2013 and immediately calling Kapoor to congratulate him. "I told him, 'Sir, what a film, lovely film, I simply loved it, great work'," Talpade said. Kapoor then revealed that he had originally approached Talpade with the film.
Talpade was taken aback by this revelation. "I was shocked when he told me the whole thing. I told him, 'Please tell me this was not the same film.' It unfortunately was, I never knew I was missing out on such an opportunity," Talpade confessed. He added that he was momentarily stunned by the revelation but harbors no ill will.
Talpade acknowledged that Arshad Warsi did a "fantastic job" portraying Jagdish Tyagi. He further added that sometimes things are meant to be, and because he was busy with other projects, he "missed the bus" on Jolly LLB.
Notably, Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are set to star together in Jolly LLB 3. Akshay Kumar will portray the quirky lawyer Jolly, with Arshad Warsi playing another Jolly. Saurabh Shukla will also reprise his role as the judge.
