Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Assam, marking his first trip to the state following the successful completion of "Operation Sindoor". During this visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹18,530 crore. The Prime Minister dedicated the success of "Operation Sindoor" to the blessings of Maa Kamakhya and Lord Krishna.

The Prime Minister's engagements were spread across Darrang and Golaghat districts. In Darrang, he laid the foundation stones for several projects, including the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, a GNM School, and a B.Sc. Nursing College, which are aimed at strengthening medical education and healthcare delivery in the region. Additionally, he initiated the Guwahati Ring Road Project to enhance urban mobility, decongest traffic, and improve connectivity in and around Guwahati. The Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River was also among the projects for which he laid the foundation, with the aim of improving connectivity and promoting socio-economic development.

In Golaghat, at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), PM Modi inaugurated the Assam Bio-Ethanol Plant, a project intended to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. He also laid the foundation stone for a Polypropylene Plant at NRL, which is expected to add value to Assam's petrochemical sector and generate employment opportunities.

During his address in Darrang, Modi emphasized the BJP's commitment to fulfilling the dreams of Assam's icons like Bhupen Hazarika. He recalled his Independence Day speech, highlighting the concept of a 'Sudarshan Chakra' for national security. He also stated that the success of Operation Sindoor was due to the blessings of Maa Kamakhya.

Earlier, on Saturday, the Prime Minister attended a special tribute meeting for the legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. He emphasized the importance of Hazarika's message of humanity and building bridges. Modi also said that Assam is currently experiencing a growth rate of around 13 percent under the BJP.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony as a "momentous occasion" for Assam. He noted that the projects included new roads, bridges, a medical college, and a major clean energy initiative.

"Operation Sindoor" has been a topic of discussion and awareness campaigns, with the Assam Rifles conducting presentations on its objectives and significance in various regions, including Nagaland. Some organizations have also paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces by naming a new blend of Assam tea "Sindoor Tea".
