A 40-year-old man's sudden death from cardiac arrest, just minutes after requesting sick leave, has sparked shock and grief among his colleagues and online community. The incident, which occurred on September 13, 2025, underscores the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of cherishing each moment.

Mr. Shankar, an employee described as "healthy and fit" by his manager, KV Iyyer, had been with the company for six years. He led a disciplined life, abstaining from smoking and alcohol, and was a dedicated family man with a wife and young child.

On the morning of his passing, Shankar texted his boss at 8:37 a.m., requesting leave due to severe back pain. "Sir, due to heavy back pain, I am unable to come today. So please grant me leave," the message read. His manager, KV Iyyer, responded with a simple "OK, take rest". Tragically, just ten minutes later, at 8:47 a.m., Shankar suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while at home. He was still conscious when he sent the message.

The news reached Mr. Iyyer around 11 a.m. via a phone call. Initially dismissing it in disbelief, he contacted another colleague to confirm and obtain Shankar's address. Rushing to Shankar's residence, he was met with the devastating reality.

Iyyer shared his shock and grief in a post on X, expressing disbelief at the sudden loss of a seemingly healthy and fit colleague. "Just 40 years of age, healthy & fit. Married with a child. No Smoking and Never tasted Alcohol," he wrote. He highlighted the heartbreaking fact that Shankar was conscious and communicating just minutes before his death. "What's shocking is he texted me for leave at 8.37 am & he breathed his last at 8.47 am. A man, while he was conscious, messages me 10 minutes before his last breath. COMPLETELY SHOCKED," Iyyer stated.

Shankar's unexpected death serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life. Despite his healthy lifestyle and young age, he fell victim to a sudden cardiac arrest. The incident has prompted reflection on the importance of cherishing each moment and treating others with kindness, as one never knows what the future holds. The manager's post also served as a reminder to be kind to one another and make the most of each day.

The incident has resonated deeply with many, highlighting the importance of recognizing potential heart attack symptoms and seeking immediate medical attention when necessary. It also underscores the need for workplaces to promote employee well-being and provide resources for managing stress and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
