In a recent instance, on September 15, 2025, the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell raided the residence of Nupur Bora, an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer serving as the Circle Officer of Goroimari Circle in Kamrup district. The raid was prompted by allegations that Bora possessed assets disproportionate to her known income sources. During the search of her apartment in Guwahati, officials recovered approximately ₹1.7 crore in cash. Currency counting machines and staff from the State Bank of India were called to assist in counting the large amount of cash. Nupur Bora was subsequently arrested, and investigations are ongoing. In connection with this case, another raid was carried out at the residence of Surajit Deka, a land official formerly posted in Barpeta, who also faces accusations of corruption.
