A tragic incident unfolded in Indore on Monday evening, September 15, 2025, as a speeding truck, allegedly driven by an intoxicated individual, plowed into pedestrians and vehicles in the Shikshak Nagar area. The devastating event has resulted in at least three fatalities and multiple injuries, leaving the community in shock.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Aerodrome Road, under the jurisdiction of the Malharganj police station. According to eyewitnesses, the truck was traveling at an uncontrollable speed when it struck several pedestrians and at least five vehicles, including cars, e-rickshaws, and bikes. The impact was so severe that the truck's tires caught fire, further exacerbating the chaos and panic.

Malharganj Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vivek Singh Chouhan confirmed the deaths of three individuals and reported that at least ten people sustained injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Krishna Lalchandani, stated that a medical examination confirmed the driver was heavily intoxicated and unable to communicate coherently. The driver has been detained, and authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Eyewitness accounts paint a harrowing picture of the scene. Subhash Soni, an eyewitness, reported that the truck's brakes may have failed, and the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle reportedly crushed multiple vehicles as it sped from Shikshak Nagar to Ramchandra Nagar Chowk. Another eyewitness stated that a bike became lodged under the truck and was dragged along the road, causing a blast and subsequent fire.

The injured individuals have been admitted to local hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition and receiving intensive care. Authorities are working to identify the deceased and provide support to the victims' families.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences and directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to conduct an inspection of the site. He also ordered an inquiry into the reasons why heavy vehicles were permitted to enter the city before 11 p.m..
