Gaganpreet Kaur, the accused in the Delhi BMW crash case, has been denied bail and will remain in jail. The accident, which occurred on September 14, 2025, involved a BMW driven by Kaur colliding with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of Navjot Singh, a senior Finance Ministry official, and critically injuring his wife, Sandeep Kaur.

The incident occurred on Ring Road near the Delhi Cantonment metro station. Navjot Singh, 52, and his wife were returning home after visiting Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and having lunch at Karnataka Bhavan. A speeding blue BMW X5 struck their motorcycle from behind, throwing them off the bike. Singh sustained severe head and leg injuries and was declared dead at the hospital. Sandeep Kaur, 50, suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Venkateshwar Hospital in Dwarka.

Following her discharge from the hospital, Gaganpreet Kaur, 38, was arrested and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, endangering lives, and obstruction of evidence. The police have also added sections related to destruction of evidence to the charges. Kaur is currently in judicial custody.

The FIR in the case reveals that Sandeep Kaur pleaded with Gaganpreet to take them to a nearby hospital for urgent medical help, but her requests were ignored. Instead, the couple was taken to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, approximately 19 kilometers away from the accident site. The hospital is allegedly co-owned by Gaganpreet Kaur's family. Kaur stated that she took the injured to Nulife Hospital because she had been treated for COVID there and could only recall that hospital in her panicked state.

Gaganpreet Kaur's blood sample tested negative for alcohol. In her bail plea, she claimed the accident was unintentional and "wholly accidental". Her counsel argued that she has cooperated fully with the investigation, has deep roots in society, and is unlikely to abscond or tamper with evidence. The bail plea also mentioned that Kaur sustained a head injury in the accident and is a mother of two minor daughters with no prior criminal record. The court issued a notice to the prosecution and directed Tihar authorities to ensure Makkad receives medical care.

Navjot Singh's son, Navnoor, alleged that his father's life could have been saved had he been taken to a closer hospital. According to police sources, the accused drove the victims to a hospital where they had links. Police have seized hospital records to check for possible tampering of medical evidence.

Parikshit Makkar, Gaganpreet Kaur's husband, who was also in the car during the accident, has been questioned by the police. He stated that he could not explain how the accident occurred. He also mentioned that Gaganpreet informed him that she was taking the injured to a hospital by taxi, and he followed in another cab. Police are verifying his claims with call detail records and location data.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident and the subsequent actions of the accused.
