A top commander from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has revealed that Pakistan's Army Chief, Asim Munir, instructed high-ranking military officers to attend the funerals of JeM terrorists killed during India's "Operation Sindoor". This revelation, made by JeM commander Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, directly contradicts Pakistan's persistent denials of supporting terrorist groups operating from its territory.

The admission by Kashmiri is seen as a vindication of India's long-held position that the Pakistani establishment is deeply involved with terrorist organizations. According to Kashmiri, corps commanders were specifically sent to attend these funerals, and army personnel in uniform provided a guard of honor to the slain jihadis. This exposure undermines Pakistan's claims that its military and government have no connections to JeM activities, suggesting that JeM operates under the protection and supervision of Pakistan's armed forces.

Operation Sindoor, which triggered these events, involved coordinated strikes by Indian armed forces on multiple terrorist facilities within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. The operation specifically targeted infrastructure belonging to JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Following the operation, reports emerged of Pakistani military and civil officials attending the funerals of designated terrorists. These funerals were led by known terrorists, and coffins were often draped in the Pakistani national flag, signifying state honors. India's Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, publicly criticized Pakistan for these state funerals, presenting photographic evidence.

Furthermore, Masood Ilyas Kashmiri's statements have also shed light on JeM's operational history and links to Pakistan. He admitted that JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar was the mastermind behind major terror attacks in Delhi and Mumbai, operating from Pakistan. Kashmiri also confirmed that Azhar reorganized his network in Pakistan after serving a prison sentence in India, using Balakot as a primary base of operations.

The confession by the JeM commander not only highlights the involvement of the Pakistani military in supporting terrorism but also exposes the ideological connections between JeM and global jihadist networks. This revelation is particularly significant as it comes directly from a top JeM commander, reinforcing India's claims about Pakistan's state-sponsored terrorism. The incident has sparked concerns about Pakistan's commitment to combating terrorism and its potential re-listing by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
