In connection to the recent shooting incident outside actress Disha Patani's family residence in Bareilly, the Delhi Police have apprehended two shooters. However, in a subsequent development, both accused were killed in an encounter with a joint operation by the Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), and Haryana STF.
The incident occurred on Friday evening, September 12, 2025, when two individuals on a motorcycle fired seven rounds outside the Civil Lines residence of Disha Patani's family. At the time of the firing, Disha Patani was not present, but her father, Jagdish Patani, her mother, Padma, and her siblings, Khushboo and Suryansh, were inside the house. Jagdish Patani, a retired DSP from the UP Police, stated that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath contacted him on Sunday evening, assuring him that there would be no lapses in his security and promising strict action against the accused.
The two accused were identified as Ravindra alias Kullu, a resident of Rohtak, and Arun, from Sonipat, Haryana. They were identified as active members of the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang and were wanted in connection with multiple criminal cases. The Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post, alleging that the Patani family had disrespected Sanatana Dharma with remarks against saints Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj.
According to the FIR, Jagdish Patani was alerted by his dogs to the presence of two men on a motorcycle near his balcony around 3:30 am on September 12. When he inquired about their identity, one of the assailants responded with "Kill him" before opening fire. Jagdish Patani escaped unharmed by taking cover behind a balcony pillar. Several rounds were fired, including two aerial shots. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced.
The shooters were tracked down after being spotted on the same motorcycle used during the September 12 firing. The encounter took place near Ghaziabad's Tronica City. During the shootout, both Ravindra and Arun sustained critical injuries and later died in the hospital. Four police officers were also injured during the encounter. Sub-inspector Rohit sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand, while head constable Kailash was injured in his right bicep. Two other STF head constables, Ankur and Jai, also suffered injuries. Police recovered a Glock pistol, a Zigana pistol, and several cartridges from the encounter spot.
Following the attack, the Bareilly police registered a case, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the police to resolve the case swiftly. Security was increased around the Patani residence, and crime records from neighboring states were analyzed, leading to the encounter.
