The Sheena Bora murder case has taken a new turn with revelations from a childhood friend, who testified that Sheena had expressed a desire to take "sanyas". This statement adds another layer to the complex narrative surrounding Sheena's life and the circumstances leading to her death.
According to Rediff-TV, the witness also stated that Sheena had told her Indrani administered wrong medication to her, which resulted to Sheena being admitted to the hospital.
The Sheena Bora case has been ongoing for several years. In 2015, news emerged that Sheena's life was complicated. A college batchmate wrote in a Facebook post about the struggles Sheena faced, such as job-related stress and long working hours. It was also revealed that Sheena was known as Indrani's sister, and her partner, Rahul Mukherjea, was the son of Indrani's husband, Peter Mukerjea. A classmate from St. Xavier's College, where Sheena studied Economics, described her as a happy, positive, innocent, and childlike person who was fashionable and popular.
Mikhael Bora, Sheena's brother, has described a difficult childhood growing up with their maternal grandparents in Guwahati after Indrani "abandoned" them. According to Mikhael, Sheena was brought to Mumbai by Indrani after finishing school.
In 2015, a friend of Sheena's, Indrajit Bhadwaj, reacted to Mikhael Bora's statements, urging him to speak the truth and not manipulate anything so that Sheena gets justice. Bhadwaj also expressed confidence in the Mumbai police.
