Korean drama fans have a lot to look forward to on OTT platforms with a diverse range of new shows premiering. Among the most anticipated is "Typhoon Family," a coming-of-age drama set against the backdrop of the 1997 South Korean financial crisis. Alongside it, several other K-dramas promise to deliver gripping plots, star-studded casts, and binge-worthy moments.

"Typhoon Family," scheduled to premiere on October 11, 2025, on tvN and globally on Netflix, explores a pivotal era in South Korean history. The series follows Kang Tae-poong, played by Lee Jun-ho, a young man from a privileged background who unexpectedly becomes the CEO of his father's struggling trading company, "Typhoon Trading Company". This sudden shift forces him to confront the harsh realities of survival and abandon his carefree lifestyle.

The drama also revolves around Oh Mi-seon, portrayed by Kim Min-ha, a resilient and determined bookkeeper who embodies the quintessential eldest daughter, shouldering her family's burdens while pursuing her career in a male-dominated environment. She works diligently at Typhoon Trading Company, performing tasks from washing cups to organizing ledgers, while harboring dreams of becoming a successful career woman. As Tae-poong strives to save the company, Mi-seon finds hope in his efforts.

"Typhoon Family" captures the spirit of a generation navigating the storms of economic hardship, exploring themes of resilience, hope, and the challenges of youth thrust into adulthood. The series is directed by Lee Na-jeong and written by Jang Hyun-sook. Sung Dong-il and Kim Ji-young play Tae-poong's parents, while Kim Min-seok and Mu Jin-sung portray his best friend and rival, respectively.

Beyond "Typhoon Family," several other K-dramas are generating buzz.
