The first look of the Malayalam film Aasha, starring Urvashi, has been released, creating a buzz among film enthusiasts. The poster features Urvashi in an intense gaze, set against a backdrop of lush greenery.
Aasha marks the directorial debut of Safar Sanal, who also penned the story. The screenplay and dialogues are jointly written by Joju George, Ramesh Girija, and Safar Sanal. Safar and Ramesh previously collaborated on the screenplay for Joju's 2022 film Peace.
The film also stars Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Vijayaraghavan in pivotal roles. Aasha went on floors in Kochi with a traditional pooja ceremony held at the Thrikkakkara Vamana Moorthy Temple.
The makers also released a short video capturing the warm reception Urvashi received on the film's sets upon returning from New Delhi after winning the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for her performance in Ullozhukku. The video highlights Urvashi's career, noting her extensive filmography of around 700 films since 1979, along with her two National Awards and eight State Awards.
Aasha is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under Ajith Vinayaka Films. Madhu Neelakandan is the cinematographer, Midhun Mukundan is the composer, and Shan Mohammed is the editor. The film is currently being shot in Kalady and surrounding regions and is planned for release in five languages.
Urvashi is also involved in Paablo Paarty, a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual film, where she will share screen space with her daughter, Teja Lakshmi.
Joju George's upcoming projects include Jeethu Joseph's Valathu Vashathe Kallan, a thriller co-starring Biju Menon. He also intends to expand Pani into a trilogy, with production for the second installment, Deluxe, expected to begin in December.
