K. C. Venugopal Warns of "Vote Theft," Calling It a Danger to Indian Integrity and Democracy.

AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has raised serious concerns about the integrity of India's electoral process, alleging large-scale manipulation of electoral rolls and terming it "vote chori". He contends that such actions undermine the very foundation of the Republic and pose a significant threat to the nation's democracy and integrity.

Venugopal's accusations are part of a broader campaign launched by the Congress party to protest against the alleged voter list manipulation. The "Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod" (Vote Theft, Quit Power) campaign aims to collect five crore signatures nationwide and submit them to the Election Commission of India (ECI), highlighting concerns over irregularities in the electoral rolls. Venugopal has called upon all citizens who believe in democracy to join this movement to defend the Constitution and save the soul of India.

According to Venugopal, the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls is not an isolated incident but rather a part of a larger, more systematic assault on the Constitution, which simultaneously weakens the economy and promotes social injustice. He argues that this "vote theft" has shaken public faith in the very foundation of India's Republic.

Venugopal has also questioned the actions of the ECI, including denying machine-readable electoral rolls to political parties and deleting CCTV footage of polling-related activities within 45 days. He specifically questioned why the ECI submitted to the Supreme Court that it is not obligated to disclose reasons behind the deletion of 65 lakh names in Bihar.

The Congress party is intensifying its campaign as the Bihar Assembly elections approach, urging citizens to join the fight against alleged electoral malpractices. Rahul Gandhi's recent 16-day yatra, covering over 1,300 km across 20 districts in Bihar, aimed to raise awareness about alleged irregularities in voter registration.

Venugopal's concerns also extend to the state of Kerala, where he questioned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's "silence" on the Election Commission's move to implement the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. He noted that while all chief ministers of the INDIA bloc have opposed the SIR, Vijayan is yet to react to it. Venugopal stated that a comprehensive revision of the voter list is not practical in Kerala amid preparations for the local body elections.

In Alappuzha, Kerala, Venugopal participated in the "Vote Chori, Gaddi Chhod" signature campaign, emphasizing that "vote theft" is not an isolated crime but a threat to the country's integrity. He reiterated the Congress party's commitment to collecting five crore signatures across India against this "blatant assault on democracy".
