Emraan Hashmi has commenced shooting for Awarapan 2 in Bangkok, reprising his role as Shivam Pandit from the 2007 cult classic. The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films. The first shooting schedule is currently underway in Bangkok.
Awarapan 2 was officially announced earlier this year on Emraan Hashmi's birthday, fulfilling long-standing requests from fans. The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, gained a cult following over the years for its intense storyline, soulful music, and Hashmi's performance, despite not performing well at the box office upon its initial release. Songs like "Toh Phir Aao" and "Tera Mera Rishta" remain popular.
The sequel aims to recapture the essence of the original while introducing fresh twists and new dimensions to the characters. Vishesh Bhatt, the producer, mentioned that Awarapan 2 will be an emotional story rooted in the crime world, exploring inner conflicts. Another source indicates the plot will advance Shivam's narrative, maintaining a love story at its core with a strong dose of action.
Disha Patani will star opposite Emraan Hashmi in Awarapan 2. The film is written by Bilal Siddiqui. Awarapan 2 is slated to release on April 3, 2026.
Hashmi's collaboration with Vishesh Films has produced hit films like Jannat, Murder, Raaz, and Gangster. Awarapan 2 promises to deliver grit, raw emotion, intense action, and blockbuster music.
Emraan Hashmi has several other upcoming projects. Haq, co-starring Yami Gautam, is a courtroom drama based on the Shah Bano case and is set to release on November 7, 2025. Ground Zero, where he plays an army officer, is scheduled for release on April 25, 2025. Other films in the pipeline include G2, Gunmaaster G9, and Harami, all expected in 2026.
