Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja's Centuries Solidify India's Dominance Against West Indies on Day 2.

Day 2 of the first Test between India and West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad saw India seize firm control, propelled by centuries from Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja. India ended the day at 448/5, establishing a commanding 286-run lead.

KL Rahul had earlier set the stage with his 11th Test century. After Rahul's dismissal, Jurel and Jadeja joined forces, constructing a remarkable 206-run partnership that showcased aggressive intent and domination over the West Indian bowlers. At the end of the day's play, Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104, accompanied by Washington Sundar, who was batting on 9.

Dhruv Jurel's innings was particularly significant as he converted his maiden Test century, scoring 125 runs. Jurel's century was marked by a celebration that paid tribute to his father, Nem Chand, a war veteran. He demonstrated composure from the moment he arrived at the crease, playing with authority. However, Jurel eventually fell to a catch off Pierre's delivery, earning a standing ovation as he departed.

Ravindra Jadeja continued his impressive form, notching up his second century of the year. Jadeja's innings underscored his consistency and importance to India's push for the World Test Championship final. He reached his half-century earlier in the day, celebrating with his signature sword celebration.

The West Indies struggled to contain the Indian batsmen, and their decision to delay taking the new ball raised eyebrows. Jayden Seales, one of their key bowlers, left the field due to injury, further depleting their bowling resources.

The day belonged to India, with Jurel and Jadeja's centuries building on Rahul's earlier ton to put the team in a dominant position. This is the fourth instance of India having three or more batters scoring 100s in the same innings in a calendar year after 1979, 1986, & 2007. West Indies will need to regroup and find answers to stem the flow of runs on Day 3 to get back into the game.

The West Indies are touring India for two Test matches as part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship. The second Test will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
