A woman was killed, and a man sustained injuries in a hit-and-run incident in Thane, Maharashtra, on Sunday night. The accident occurred around 11:30 PM on Ghodbunder Road, near a skywalk bridge close to Vijay Garden housing society.
According to police reports, the couple was returning from a party when an unidentified vehicle struck their motorbike. The woman, identified as Swati, was riding as a pillion passenger and was fatally injured after falling under the wheels of the vehicle. She suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene.
The man, whose name has not been released, sustained a fracture in his hand. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently undergoing medical care. His condition is reported to be stable.
Authorities from the Kasarwadavali police station have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident. They are actively searching for the offending vehicle and its driver. The police have sent Swati's body to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
This incident follows a similar accident in March where a woman was killed and her husband injured in a hit-and-run on Ghodbunder Road.
