PM Modi's Diwali Message: Lord Ram's Example and Operation Sindoor's Significance for Citizens.

In a heartfelt Diwali letter to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked the spirit of Lord Ram and highlighted "Operation Sindoor" as a modern-day example of upholding righteousness and fighting injustice. Addressing citizens on the auspicious occasion of the festival of lights, Modi connected the ancient ideals of dharma with recent actions taken by the Indian armed forces.

Modi emphasized that Lord Ram's life and teachings provide a blueprint for righteous conduct and inspire the courage to stand against wrongdoing. He stated that "Operation Sindoor" served as a "living example" of these principles in action. According to the Prime Minister, during "Operation Sindoor," India not only upheld righteousness but also avenged injustice.

"Operation Sindoor," launched on May 7, 2025, involved missile strikes targeting what India claimed were terrorist infrastructure facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. India asserted that the operation was a response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, in which 26 civilians were killed. India accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism, a charge Pakistan denied. Pakistan stated that the Indian strikes hit civilian areas, resulting in casualties.

The Prime Minister's Diwali message also underscored the significance of the festival in the context of national security and development. Modi noted that for the first time, lamps would be lit in many districts across the country, including remote areas, where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been eradicated. He lauded individuals who have abandoned violence to join the mainstream, embracing the Constitution and contributing to the nation's progress. Modi stated that this was a "major achievement" for India. Addressing Navy personnel on the INS Vikrant, Modi stated that the coordination between the armed forces led to Pakistan's surrender during Operation Sindoor.

Beyond national security, Modi's letter touched upon recent economic reforms, including the implementation of lower GST rates during the "GST Bachat Utsav" (Savings Festival). He also reiterated his call for citizens to prioritize "Swadeshi" products, supporting local artisans and promoting national pride.

In his Diwali message, Modi conveyed his wishes for harmony, happiness, and prosperity to prevail in the lives of all citizens. He urged everyone to celebrate the festival safely, responsibly, and in an environmentally friendly manner. Other leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, also extended Diwali greetings, emphasizing themes of unity, charity, and environmental consciousness.
