Flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport are facing disruptions due to significant air traffic congestion. IndiGo has issued an advisory to passengers, warning of potential delays for both arriving and departing flights.
The airline posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, stating, "Due to air traffic congestion in Delhi, flight operations are currently impacted". IndiGo acknowledged that passengers may experience extended wait times both on the ground and onboard. They also requested flyers to check their mobile app for up-to-date information.
Real-time data from Flightradar24 indicates that several domestic flights from Delhi are experiencing considerable delays. For example, an IndiGo flight to Mumbai was delayed by 25 minutes, and a flight to Patna faced delays exceeding one hour. Delays are also anticipated for flights to Amritsar, Pune, Kolkata, and Lucknow.
IndiGo has advised passengers to check their website or mobile app for the most current flight information. The airline has also assured that its crew and ground teams are available to assist passengers and ensure their wait is as comfortable as possible. IndiGo is working closely with airport authorities to manage the situation and restore normal flight operations as quickly as possible.
The air quality in Delhi remains in the 'very poor' category. As of 8:30 AM, the Air Quality Index (AQI) across the capital reached 310, according to the Air Quality Early Warning System (EWS). AQI levels of 403 and 402 were recorded at the air quality monitoring stations in Wazirpur and Jahangirpuri, respectively.
