Bihar Election Violence: CPM Candidate Satyendra Yadav's Car Targeted in Saran District Attack.

Chapra, Bihar – During the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections on Thursday, CPM MLA Satyendra Yadav's vehicle was attacked in the Saran district. The incident occurred in the Manjhi constituency, specifically near Jaitpur village, under the Daudpur police station area.

According to reports, Yadav was inspecting polling booths when a group of unidentified individuals attacked him and vandalized his vehicle. Stones were reportedly thrown at his car, resulting in a shattered windshield. Police have confirmed that the MLA and his associates were unharmed, and the situation was quickly brought under control. Additional police forces have been deployed to the site, and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer is currently stationed there.

Saran's police chief, Dr. Kumar Ashish, also arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Authorities have initiated an investigation, and a First Information Report (FIR) is being registered at the Daudpur police station. The police said that the incident took place as the MLA's convoy reached Jaitpur village. According to the police statement, locals began protesting outside the polling station, and during the commotion, the vehicle's window was damaged by anti-social elements.

The incident occurred amidst the first phase of polling for the Bihar Assembly elections, which saw a voter turnout of 60.13% by 5 pm. The first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections began at 7 am across 121 constituencies, with around 3.75 crore electors. Polling concludes at 6 pm, with some constituencies closing at 5 pm due to security concerns. This phase will determine the fate of key leaders including Tejashwi Yadav, Samrat Choudhary, and Tej Pratap Yadav.

The attack on Yadav's vehicle was one of several violent incidents reported during the first phase of the elections. In Lakhisarai district, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha's convoy was allegedly attacked by RJD supporters. Protesters surrounded his car, hurled slippers, and chanted slogans. Sinha accused RJD workers of "hooliganism" and preventing his polling agent from voting, vowing he would not let "jungle raj" prevail in Bihar. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar directed the Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar to take strict action against those involved in the attack on the convoy of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister.

The Bihar election is being closely watched as a key test for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity and his alliance's hold over one of India's politically influential states. The results could impact the stability of Modi's federal coalition, which relies on allies like Nitish Kumar's JD(U).
