Abhishek Bachchan's Heartfelt Farewell: Remembering Makeup Artist Ashok Sawant, More Than Just a Colleague, He Was Family.

Mumbai, November 10, 2025 - Actor Abhishek Bachchan is mourning the loss of his long-time makeup artist, Ashok Sawant, who passed away on Sunday, November 9, after battling a prolonged illness. Sawant, who had been an integral part of Bachchan's life for over 27 years, was remembered by the actor as "family" in a heartfelt tribute posted on social media.

Bachchan shared two cherished photos with Sawant, fondly known as "Ashok dada," and expressed his deep sorrow. "Ashok dada and I have worked together for over 27 years," Bachchan wrote on Instagram. "He has been doing my make-up since my very first film. He wasn't just a part of my team, he was part of my family. His elder brother Deepak has been my father's make-up man for close to 50 years," highlighting the deep-rooted connection between the Bachchan family and the Sawant brothers.

The actor, known for his roles in films like "Guru" and "Dhoom", shared touching memories of his relationship with Sawant. He revealed that Sawant was the first person whose feet he would touch to seek blessings before the first shot of every new film. "From now on I will have to look up to the heavens and know that you'll be looking down and blessing me," Bachchan wrote, reflecting on the profound impact Sawant had on his career.

Despite Sawant's health struggles in recent years, he remained dedicated to his work and always made sure to check in on Bachchan. "The last couple of years he was ailing so couldn't always be on set with me," Bachchan recalled. "But whenever I was shooting, there wasn't a single day he wouldn't check on me. Making sure his assistant was taking care of how my make-up was done. He was the most loving, gentle and affable person. Always a smile on his face, a ready warm embrace and some amazing namkeen chivda or bhakar wadi tucked away in his bag," painting a picture of a man whose kindness was as much a part of his craft as his skill.

Bachchan concluded his tribute with a message of love and gratitude. "Thank you dada, for your love, your care, your dignity, your talent and for your smile," he wrote. "It's heartbreaking to even think of going to work and knowing that you won't be with me. I pray you are in peace and I look forward to the bear-hug when we meet again. Rest in peace and happiness Ashok Sawant,".

The post quickly garnered heartfelt condolences from Bollywood celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, and Jackie Shroff, who remembered Sawant as a gentle and kind soul.

On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan is preparing for his upcoming roles in films like "Raja Shivaji" and "King," where he is reportedly set to play the antagonist. His sports drama "Ghoomer" was re-released in theaters on November 7.
