Samson's move to the five-time IPL champions comes after a trade deal with Rajasthan Royals (RR), which saw Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran heading to RR in exchange.
In the video, Malayalam actor Basil Joseph, a close friend of Samson, introduced the cricketer. The video cleverly incorporates elements to appeal to Keralite fans, featuring Joseph, the director of "Minnal Murali," and using Malayalam, suggesting the setting is in Kerala. The video showcases the installation of a cutout of Samson, with Joseph humorously stating, "From now on, our boy is yellow. And we follow his lead," as Samson is revealed in the CSK jersey.
Sanju Samson expressed his excitement and gratitude upon officially joining Chennai Super Kings. He admitted feeling surreal, especially after years of competing against CSK and admiring the franchise's aura. "I felt like a champion," Samson said, reflecting on the moment he wore the CSK jersey for the first time. He will play for CSK in IPL 2026 for INR 18 crore.
Samson's trade is considered a significant move in the IPL, with CSK securing a potentially important player, especially with considerations around MS Dhoni's age and possible retirement.
