Hyderabad-based Indrajaal Drone Defence has launched the Indrajaal Ranger, India's first AI-driven Anti-Drone Patrol Vehicle (ADPV). This groundbreaking, fully mobile, counter-drone system is designed to redefine how the nation responds to drone-led threats. The Indrajaal Ranger aims to address the increasing threat of drone-based smuggling along India's borders, offering on-the-move capabilities across various terrains and providing a decisive response to aerial threats.
Unlike traditional stationary anti-drone systems or vehicle-mounted solutions that only work when parked, the Indrajaal Ranger is engineered as a purpose-built combat vehicle. It delivers on-the-move drone detection, real-time patrolling and surveillance, autonomous threat assessment through AI, and instant interception and neutralization. This mobile capability ensures seamless coverage across border roads, canals, agricultural belts, critical infrastructure, and dense urban pockets.
The Indrajaal Ranger is built on an all-terrain 4x4 platform and powered by Indrajaal's SkyOS™ autonomy engine. It combines 10 km of drone detection capabilities with a 4 km mitigation range, all supported by AI-driven tracking. The vehicle is equipped with multiple counter-UAS options, including cyber takeover, soft-kill measures, and interceptor drones. It also features an integrated cyber takeover unit, GNSS spoofing technology, RF jamming capability, and a spring-loaded kill switch for clean and autonomous takedowns.
Kiran Raju, Founder & CEO of Indrajaal, emphasized the vehicle's importance in safeguarding the nation. "India is facing a new kind of enemy – one that flies. Smugglers no longer cross the border on foot; they cross it through the air in minutes. Indrajaal Ranger is India's answer to this new battlefield,". He further added that each drone neutralized translates to lives protected and India's internal security strengthened.
The development of the Indrajaal Ranger stems from recent national security incidents that highlighted drones as a preferred method for cross-border smuggling and illegal activities. India has seen a surge in ISI-linked weapons being smuggled into its territory and an increase in drone-based drug drops, contributing to a substantial narcotics trade. Security agencies have already neutralized hundreds of Pakistani drones this year, underscoring the urgent need for a fast and mobile counter-drone response.
During the launch of the Ranger, Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey (Retd) highlighted the importance of such technologies, stating that they are shields protecting the nation's children, farmers, and future. The Indrajaal Ranger is designed for border forces and police units, providing speed, autonomy, and a decisive response in a landscape where drones have become a primary tool for illicit activities. Indrajaal is recognized as India's pioneering autonomous Counter UAS and air defense technology enterprise. Its proprietary autonomy engine, SkyOS, integrates multi-sensor intelligence and real-time decision-making into a unified C5ISRT framework.
