Jammu, November 27, 2025 – A 19-year-old male has been apprehended by Jammu Police on Thursday, suspected of having connections to online radicalization and planning a terror act. The suspect, originally a resident of the Reasi district, was currently residing in the Bathindi area of Jammu. He is considered a key suspect in a terror-related case, leading to the filing of FIR No. 331/2025 under section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bahu Fort Police Station. Section 113(3) of the BNS pertains to abetting, attempting, conspiring, or knowingly facilitating the commission of a terrorist act.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was being radicalized online and was allegedly in the process of planning a terror attack. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was in contact via mobile phone with certain numbers based in Pakistan and other foreign countries. Law enforcement has seized the suspect's digital devices, which are currently undergoing thorough examination and analysis. Authorities are conducting a detailed interrogation of the accused as the investigation continues.
The arrest highlights the growing concern surrounding the radicalization of educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) via the internet. Security agencies are increasingly worried about the potential for such radicalization to disrupt peace and stability in the region and the country as a whole. Recent incidents, such as the busting of a terror module in Faridabad involving educated professionals, have amplified these concerns.
Law enforcement agencies are cautioning against the misinterpretation of religion and the exploitation of religious sentiments by political leaders, factors that can contribute to the radicalization of young individuals. Authorities are urging community leaders and families to remain vigilant and report any signs of radicalization among young people. The investigation is ongoing, and police are expected to release more details as they become available.
