Inflammatory Social Media Post Leads to Arrest of Individual in Doda Region.

Doda police arrested a man on Friday for allegedly posting inflammatory content on social media. The arrest followed a written complaint filed at the Doda Police Station by Hassan Babur Nehru, a resident of Nehru Chowk, against Amreek Singh, son of Ranbir Singh, from the Beoli area.

Nehru's complaint alleges that Singh is a habitual offender who frequently livestreams inflammatory speeches on Facebook. He further stated that on November 26, Singh posted abusive, derogatory, and communal remarks targeting a particular community on a Facebook page titled “Panchmukhi Pahadi Rajpoot”.

Authorities stated that the content was widely shared online, creating the potential to disturb public order, promote enmity between communities, and hurt religious sentiments. Police noted that Singh had been previously arrested in March 2023 for uploading similar material and was subsequently placed under preventive detention in District Jail Bhaderwah.

Following the complaint, the police registered FIR No. 269/2025 under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Doda Police Station and initiated an investigation. The police are urging the public to use social media responsibly and refrain from sharing or endorsing any content that may affect communal harmony. They have also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in circulating provocative content, promoting hatred, misinformation, or communal discord.
