Lenskart Joins Smart Glasses Competition: An Indian Alternative to Apple Vision and Ray-Ban Meta offerings.

Lenskart is poised to enter the smart glasses arena with the launch of its "B by Lenskart" smart glasses, anticipated by the end of December 2025. This move signifies Lenskart's ambition to evolve from a direct-to-consumer eyewear retailer into a technology-driven lifestyle brand.

Features and Technology

The "B by Lenskart" smart glasses are engineered and built in India, incorporating advanced features into a lightweight design. Weighing approximately 40 grams, these glasses are designed for comfort and style. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, optimized for augmented reality applications and camera-enabled AI. It also features an integrated Sony camera for capturing photos and videos. The glasses are expected to offer AI-based interactions, health and well-being insights, and UPI payment capabilities. Driven by Gemini 2.5 Live, the AI assistant will enable voice interactions, live translation, and facilitate UPI payments.

Building an Ecosystem

Lenskart intends to open its smart glasses platform to third-party developers, with the aim of creating India’s first full-stack wearables ecosystem. This strategic move will enable integration across various sectors, including food delivery, fitness, and entertainment.

Market Positioning

Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal stated that the "B by Lenskart Smart Glasses" are an effort to demonstrate India's capability to lead in consumer technology with intelligent, personal, and globally relevant products. While Lenskart is developing advanced AI-powered smart glasses, it had also launched Lenskart Phonic smart glasses earlier in February 2025, combining traditional eyewear with smart features at an affordable price of ₹4,000. The Phonic smart glasses include features such as Bluetooth audio, voice assistant support, and the ability to take calls and listen to music.

Competitive Landscape

Industry analysts estimate the global smart glasses market will reach USD 4-5 billion by 2030, with India as a key growth region. With its focus on AI integration and ecosystem development, Lenskart aims to challenge international players and drive mainstream adoption of smart eyewear. Lenskart's entry into the smart glasses market could position it as a potential competitor to established players like Apple and Ray-Ban Meta.
