Ranveer Singh's upcoming film, "Dhurandhar," directed by Aditya Dhar, has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its scheduled release on December 5, 2025. This certification follows a period of uncertainty surrounding the film, including a petition filed with the Delhi High Court by the family of the late Major Mohit Sharma, an Ashoka Chakra awardee. The family raised concerns that the film allegedly mirrored aspects of Major Sharma's life, service, and operations, potentially violating his dignity and posthumous privacy.

The Delhi High Court directed the CBFC to re-examine "Dhurandhar" in light of the concerns raised. After this re-evaluation, the CBFC concluded that the film is a "purely fictional" work and bears no resemblance to the life, service, or experiences of Major Mohit Sharma. The board asserted that the movie has no factual or biographical link to the officer. This ruling effectively cleared the way for the film's release, with the CBFC stating that no further review or clearance from the Indian Army was necessary.

However, the CBFC has granted "Dhurandhar" an 'A' certificate, making it Ranveer Singh's first adult-rated film. The film has a runtime of 214.01 minutes (3 hours, 34 minutes, and 1 second), making it the longest Bollywood film in 17 years, since "Jodhaa Akbar" (2008).

Several cuts and modifications were requested by the CBFC before granting the certificate. These included adding a voiceover to the Hindi disclaimer, incorporating anti-drug and anti-smoking disclaimers in relevant scenes, and replacing some violent visuals at the beginning of the film with alternative shots. The CBFC also asked for a reduction in violent visuals in the second half and the muting of a cuss word. Additionally, the name of a minister character was changed. Music and additional scenes were incorporated into the end credits.

"Dhurandhar" is described as a Hindi-language spy-action thriller. The film's synopsis on the CBFC website reads: "After the hijacking of IC-814 in 1999 and Parliament attack 2001, India's Intelligence Bureau Chief - Ajay Sanyal devises an indomitable mission to intrude and rupture the terrorist network in Pakistan, by infiltrating the underworld mafia of Karachi".

"Dhurandhar," backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, features a cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
